Samokat provides health insurance for 20 thousand couriers through Renaissance Insurance

As part of its Courier Care programme, the online retailer Samokat, together with Renaissance Insurance, has launched a life and health insurance project for the service’s couriers. Some 20,000 delivery workers in 22 cities where the service operates will benefit from accident protection, with possible compensation of up to RUB 500,000.

Samokat’s insurance programme is free of charge and covers all couriers (those working on foot, on bicycles and in cars) throughout Russia during the execution of an order: when en route to the customer and returning to a dark store. To participate in the programme, couriers do not need to fill out an application or purchase an insurance policy. They are signed up for life and health insurance automatically.

In case of an insured event (for example, an injury due to a fall), the courier must report the incident through the Samokat Pro app, seek medical attention and keep all medical records. This must be done no later than 30 days after the incident. Specialists from the Care service can help fill out a claim for the insurance company. The injured party will have to submit the documents to the insurance company; within 15 days after submitting the documents, they will be able to receive compensation.
